520 |a Four student film composers (Jason Parks, Juan Carlos Enriquez Sanchez, Martin Boumendil and Alexander Arntzen) discuss their individual approaches to creating music for film. Jason, an avid Digital Performer user shares his approach for extracting a segment of video, importing the resulting movie into DP, setting the movie start time, adding a preroll to the sequence start and extracting the source audio. Juan Carlos is a user of Logic and shows some virtual instruments he enjoys working with, such as East West and Evolve sample libraries as well as tips for using them, for example keyswitches, velocity and sample adjustment. Cubase, while not used extensively at Berklee, is a very popular DAW, and the choice of composer Martin Boumendil. He showes some ideas for processing audio in Cubase, such as small track delays to create interest as well as the use of the pitch shifting engine to create variations and harmonies. Last but not least Alexander Arntzen shows some of the short films he has scored using Logic and explained how to layer differnet samples included in Logic to create a better sound if someone doesn't have access to any of the sound libraries discussed earlier in the forum.
